St. John’s Ladies Philoptochos
Our Chapter
Our chapter is located in Blue Point, NY, and has been active since 1951, responding immediately to needs and crises in our local area and throughout the world. We fulfill this Mission through our National Philoptochos Annual Commitments, our District Commitments, and by supporting our Parish and Community. ‘
At St. John’s Philoptochos, our members dedicate themselves each year to supporting both our church and the greater community through heartfelt service and impactful fundraising.
During Christmas and Easter, we provide financial assistance to individuals and families in need, helping to bring comfort and hope during the most sacred times of the year. We also offer support to the infirm and homebound whenever called upon, ensuring they feel the love and care of their parish family.
Each holiday season, our Angel Tree program helps brighten the lives of those less fortunate by collecting gifts and essential items for individuals and families in need. For this Christmas season, our Angel Tree will benefit victims of abuse and human trafficking through the Suffolk Children’s Advocacy and Empowerment Collaborative of Long Island.
Throughout the year, our chapter provides donations, care packages, and financial support to a wide range of organizations serving vulnerable populations. These include veterans’ groups, children’s hospitals, local shelters, recovery programs, elder care homes, and food banks. We have supported institutions such as Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, Mercy House, Community Housing Innovations, Hope House, Dress for Success, St. Michael’s Home, the Mather Hospital Foundation, Long Island Community Hospital, Long Island Cares, Lighthouse Mission, and the Special Olympics.
Our outreach also includes preparing meals for families staying at Ronald McDonald House, collecting food and toiletries for local families in crisis, and participating in the National Philoptochos Feed the Hungry program.
None of this would be possible without the generosity and support of the St. John’s parish community. Together, we put our faith into action — offering love, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.
